SOLVENTS Methyl soyate, a methyl ester derived from soybean oil, offers good potential as a renewable, industrial solvent for use in cold cleaning, de-oiling, as carrier solvents for pesticides and printing inks, and resin removal and cleanup. It is a low-cost, biodegradable, low-toxicity, high-flash point alternative to the traditional chlorinated, hydrocarbon and fluorocarbon solvents being regulated out of markets as ozone depleting chemicals, hazardous air pollutants, and/or volatile organic compounds.
