HYDRAULIC FLUIDS There is interest in using soybean oil as hydraulic fluids to replace petroleum derivatives. Lubricating capacity is adequate but oxidative and polymerisation stability can be a problem. In environmentally sensitive areas, the use of soybean oil based hydraulic fluids can be a necessity. Should hydraulic lines break or leak and a spill result, soybean oil is environmentally benign.
